Samīa played Motormouth Maybelle in our high school musical production of Hairspray, for which I played drums in the pit orchestra. At the peak of her slow, lilting 6/8 solo ballad, she hit her high note, I hit my downbeat about as hard as I could, and the spotlight hit her and flooded my eyes. I was rushed with adrenaline and a feeling of beauty, and in hindsight it was a see-god moment for me, one I'll remember, cherish, and chase forever, not possible without Samīa's talent or presence in that role. I'm grateful for having crossed paths with her, and my life is better for it.
Sending immense prayer, support and love to the BUTLER, BALLARD AND LITTLES family in this devastating time of grief. There are no words to encompass this tragedy but please find comfort in knowing that Samia's beautiful spirit has shined light in the dark times of many. Her vibrant energy will continue to live on thru everyone she touched and it was a blessing for any of us who experienced her light.
Thank you all for sharing your loved one with our community we all pour love and prayer over your whole family.

Samia...
A beautiful voice. A beautiful soul. A beautiful young woman inside and out. It was always a delight to know her while at Rust College. Her voice would light up a room, even on a cloudy day. I am sadden by the untimely loss of our dear sister, but in my heart I know she is at peace. My thoughts, prayers, and love go out to her family, friends, Rust College family, the Theta Pi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, and most of all my sands FA 16's Theta Pi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.
May your light continues to shine bright Samia. It is not a goodbye, but a see you later.
With love,

Samia was a jewel in the Rust College Choir. Her spirit was so pure and sweet. I appreciated her positive attitude and demeanor. Such a beautiful spirit.
