Gordy Willis Kirk

Mr Kirk was my dialysis patient. He was an incredible man. A great man from a great generation. It was my deepest honor to have had the privilege to care for him. RIP Mr. Kirk, you will not be forgotten and will always be an inspiration. Dr. Joe Lee Mpls VA

Mr. Kirk, I saw your story in the Pioneer Press. You sound like an amazing man who set examples of honor, ethics, service, and love for your fellow humans. Traits that you most likely spread to others by example. I am sure your family is so proud of you, and misses you terribly. Prayers to your family, and for your eternal and well-deserved rest.

Gordy Kirk was the perfect uncle to me and an amazing patriarch of the entire family. He cared deeply about us; a care that he regularly demonstrated in ways big and small. Calling when he hadn’t heard from you and always signing off with “I love you.” Or cooking a big pot of corned beef and cabbage just his mother’s. Or flying across the country in his 90s for my brother’s funeral. Uncle Gordy always showed up for his family.

His dedication to us is paralleled only by his dedication to the military and to veterans. Uncle Gordy touched many lives through his service. We should all be so lucky to have a man like him in our corners. He certainly was in mine and I will be forever grateful for him. He will be missed.

Thank you for being one of the most reliable ushers I knew in church service. When it’s a role of responsibility you showed up for, you set an example for protecting and serving even if it was just church, and you showed up regularly even when it’s not required lol. You’ve reminded me of what it means to lead without being boastful, and how to humbly lead not knowing what God’s reward to you is for doing so. May you rest in peace, protecting and guiding from up above.
