Mr. Paul Douglas Ramey Sr.'s Obituary
Brooks Funeral Home announces the passing of Mr. Paul Douglas Ramey Sr. Paul was born in Mouthcard, Kentucky on October 29, 1944 to Ersel and Mary Ramey. He had passed on June 9th, 2020. He is preceded in death by his father Ersel Ramey and his mother Mary Calvins Ramey. Paul is survived by siblings, Freelin ‘Bud” Ramey, Kenneth Ramey, Landon Ramey, Kathleen Abraham, Barbra Lopez, and Bonnie Roberts; children, Rhonda (Doug) Christenson-Ramey, Dawn (Rick) Kerr-Ramey, Paul D. (Debbie) Ramey Jr., and Crystal (John) Stirwalt-Ramey; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Paul went to school and graduated from Feds Creek High School in Pike County, Kentucky. After high school, Paul joined the US army and served approximately 18 months, mostly in Germany then returning to the United States. He settled in Minneapolis, MN where he met and married Diane Thundstrom then eventually moved to North Branch, MN. He worked in the metal industry “machine shops' ' and then later attended Hennepin Tech and received a degree in “tool and die” in the late 80’s. His hobbies included fishing for walleye and catfish at St. Croix and Sunrise river. He enjoyed reading books and watching history and military documentaries. He loved his country, friends and family, and enjoyed life. Some of his favorite music was Kitty Wells, Merril Haggard, Tanya Tucker, Hank Senior, Waylon Jennings, but most of all Chuck Berry. A special thank you to Wiley - Lorenso Smith, a great friend and caretaker for Paul on and off for many years but especially a great friend.
